Saving tips

  • Use less paper.

  • Use both sides of a sheet.

  • Before throwing away a piece of used sticky notepad, use it to clean the computer keyboard - just slide the sticky side between the keys and see particles or hair strands within get stuck almost instantly!

  • Retain brochures and mailers that are printed on a single side since the other blank side can be used to scribble messages, shopping lists and etc.

  • Share or borrow magazines and newspapers from friends or the library.

  • Bring a personal shopping bag whenever it is time to shop.

  • Tear off pages from unwanted magazines to line the shelves of a shoe cabinet or inside a shoebox.

  • While carrying books or magazines in a bag, keep them crease-free by putting them inside a used envelope.

  • For used envelopes that much bigger in size, pack slippers and shoes in them the next time you are going travelling.

  • Unused envelopes that are glued together can be separated. They will open right up once they come under a hair dryer or simply place them in a microwave for a minute.

  • Get a hole or paper puncher and punch on magazines to make confetti.

  • When envelopes turn yellow, cover the stains by pasting punch-out paper cuttings or by drawing something over each spot (like a smiley face or a snowflake). If the spots are well dispersed, color the whole envelope with colored pencils or draw and color stripes, squares or dots. Do likewise for aging greeting cards.

  • Save the covers of used greeting cards and turn them into gift tags.

  • Print email messages only when necessary.

  • Circulate just one document instead of making copies for each person.
