Loop one rubber band over the top of the book and use another band for the bottom. Alternatively, you can also tie with a string instead of a rubber band.
The soft paper material will be strengthened as the pages are bonded together at the top and at the bottom so the book will be stable enough to stand on its own without falling.
Works well on a sagging phone book.
