Hygiene

  • Bring along your own tissue when you visit a public restroom just in case the toilet roll runs out or has dropped onto the floor or into the bowl.

  • Before taking a seat, one should either clean the seat with toilet paper, line with toilet paper or use a seat cover.

  • Door handles, faucets and sanitary bins are unlikely the cleanest things to touch. Use tissue or paper towels whenever you have to touch them.

  • Clean and scrub hands with soap thoroughly for at least 10 seconds.

  • Do not use the dryers to dry wet hands. They tend to suck bacteria from the air and blow it onto your hands. Bacteria loves to linger in hot atmosphere and the dryers help keep them alive.

  • Researchers say the middle stalls have the most visitors. Well, probably the stall that looks the cleanest will be everyone's first choice?

Etiquette

  • No one likes stepping into a filthy toilet, so why not play a part to keep it clean?

  • Never step on the seat! Spare a thought for the folks doing the cleaning and the next person using it.

  • Throw sanitary pads into waste bins and not into the toilet bowl because it can clog the pipes.

  • Do not throw anything (e.g. tissue, sweet wrappers and hair strands) into the wash basin or urinal.

  • Put on your warmest smile when you meet the cleaner in the restroom.
