Decorate the area around a power point by framing it up, i.e. hang a hollow picture frame against it.
Use a piece of sarong material as bed cover.
Convert a wine rack into a shoe rack.
Use bamboo stick, mop or broom stick as curtain poles.
With disposable wooden chopsticks or ice-cream sticks on hand, cut a slit at the center on one of the stick's end, about 2 cm deep using a mini hacksaw or a strong penknife. Next, color the stick with colored pens (permanent ink) or simply add a coat of varnish to keep uninvited bugs from coming especially if the wood is raw and inexpensive. Afterwhich, slide in a photo or clipping between the slit and place the stick inside a vase, pen holder or anywhere else. Create better effect by varying the stick's length and the size of the clipping.
Hang up pot lips or bottle caps of various sizes and colors on the kitchen wall.
Fold small-size colored LDPE plastic bags to resemble sticks until you get a bunch. Next, drop the whole bunch into a vase or cup (or anything) and there you have it, a colorful home decor accessory! You can also use drinking straws or chopsticks.
Ways to dress up the christmas tree :
1. Decorate with clothes pegs. White ones to depict snow or paint them silver or gold for a shimmery effect.
2. Hang all the souvenir keychains up.
Get a trendy dustbin to keep anything from toilet rolls, books, towels, laundry to toys except rubbish.
Paint a picture or draw patterns directly onto the wall and hang a see-through frame in front of the design. Is this not called framing a picture on the wall?
Liven the bathtub by throwing in 1 or more beach balls!
Position 2 or more lamps of the same kind or complementary near to each other on the floor in a corner of a room or on the table. Do the same with clocks.
Perk-up plain walls or hide unsightly spots by pasting or framing up any of these stuff that is good-looking : wrapping papers, postcards, paper or plastic bags, notebook covers, paper clippings or a piece of fabric, tee shirt, scarf, rug, towel, dishcloth, table mat, table napkin or even a set of coasters.
Treat pillow cases as slip covers for chairs.
Line 2 or more vases each with a different kitchen utensil placed inside it.
Give a piece of fabric a simple face lift - pin buttons, badges, collar pins, safety pins, brouches or even earrings.
Dress up chair legs with baby socks.
Paste rulers on the wall and make them look like wall tiles or a piece of art.
An interesting shower curtain can make an interesting window curtain too. Best if the material is vinyl which makes cleaning even easier.
Cut strips of fabrics that complement the colors and the patterns in the room, so that they can be used collectively as a curtain. Determine the length and width of each strip (work within 20 to 30 cm) and so calculate the number of strips required to cover the window frame. The possible advantages of having such strips are :
1. Curtain is no longer heavy or bulky because strips are easier to handle. Each strip can be removed as and when cleaning is required.
2. Fabrics from old or unused or wrong-sized bedsheets can be put to use.
3. Mix and match with the rest of the room's fabric simply be changing and hanging the appropriate strip.

Less-wacky ideas

Use wine rack to display non-alcoholic bottled drinks.
Create an unique fridge notice board - get a sheet of transparency, secure it with magnets and use a non-permanent marker to write messages/shopping lists. Draw pictures or write quotable quotes to decorate it. Just use water to erase.
To prevent kids from scribbling directly on the walls, paste big sheets of cheap white-colored paper over those areas where they can reach and let them draw. Replace the sheets when necesary.
Gather glass bottles of various shapes, sizes or even colors and allow them to sit close to each other on bare tabletops or cabinets. Put a flower stalk inside each bottle if you wish.
Arrange candles of the same design but in various heights, placing shorter ones infront to form a choir of candles.
Put a few bars of soap into a bowl and display the bowl anywhere in the bathroom.
Use a standing towel rack to hang small flower pots.
To get the bedroom's curtain to match the designs on the bedsheet, buy the identical bedsheet (type: flat sheet) of the same design, that is and use the fabric to make curtains.
