- A rubber band is also called a gum band, elastic band, binder, lackie (or lackey) band.
- It was invented in England in 1845 by Stephen Perry of Messers Perry and Co., a rubber manufacturing company. He patented the rubber band on March 17, 1845.
- A rubber band gun (RBG) is a toy that is load with rubber bands, not bullets.
- There are 3 types of rubber band guns; a clothes peg (clothespin) pistol, repeater pistolo and a gatling gun. The most impressive is the gatling gun which can fire 144 rubber bands automatically.
- Rubber bracelets (usually made of silicone and come in single or multi colors) are not only used to raise funds for charities, create brand awareness but also to display patriotism.
