How To Hang A Picture Straight

June 7th, 2006

Things you’ll need :

TORPEDO LEVEL - a ruler with 3 levellers (horizontal, vertical and diagonal), each with a bubble inside.

HAMMER - A flat head hammer hit nails better than a round head.

HOOKS - Use a J-hook and a wall plug if the picture weighs more than 10kg, otherwise use a regular nail.

Simple picture hanging tips :

* Use a pencil to mark the spot where you want the picture to be then use the hammer to drive the nail through. Once the picture is hung, place the torpedo level under the picture and position the picture until you see the bubble right in the center.

* To hang pictures in a row, repeat the same process as above. Use the level to help you find the right nail spot.

* To hang pictures weighing more than 10kg, use a drill to make a hole about 6-7mm deep, insert a wall plug using a mallet as a hammer may leave marks on the surface. Finally screw in the J-hook and hang the picture as usual.
