• A carrot cake is a cake made with grated carrot added into the batter prior to baking.
• Cinnamon is one of the spices that is commonly added into the batter for carrot cake.
• There are so many variations determined by the inclusion of other ingredients such as nuts, apples, pineapples, lemons, coconut, chocolates and spices (e.g. nutmeg and cloves).

  The word carrot comes from a chinese translation of radish. A basic recipe would involve the frying of radish chunks (made by mixing rice flour, tapicoa flour, water and shredded radish) with eggs, garlic, light or dark soy sauce and spring onion with optional ingredients like prawns, chili or vinegar. Carrot cake is a popular dish in Asian countries like Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam.
