The USB Air Conditioned Shirt

July 11th, 2007

This was the shirt that was highly featured in the press and on many gadget blogs in June 2006, and with such uncompromising high temperatures, this could one day be the common attire!

Invented by former Sony technician Hiroshi Ichigaya, the USB Air Conditioned Shirt uses two 4-inch fans at the back to blow fresh air into the shirt and out through the neck and sleeve ends. The air is to allow sweat evaporation to take place and at the same time moisture can also pass through the cloth.

It obtains power from your USB drive but if you don’t have a computer nearby, you can use four AA batteries to get it going. It even plugs into the cigarette lighter in a car.

The electrical components can be removed for washing. It weighs 325 grams and is made from 80% polyester and 20% cotton. Retails at USD 159.00.

Anyone who puts on the shirt will look puffed up when the fans are at work.
